South Portland Edges Bangor For State Legion Title

The Bangor American Legion baseball attempt to three-peat the state title came up short Sunday afternoon in Augusta. A tense 5-4 loss to South Portland in the championship game.

The Yankee Ford/South Portland team had to beat Rogers Post of Auburn 7-6 in the first game of the day before getting to the Comrades.

Bangor, who had two coaches ejected from the game, finish 21-7.

South Portland, 24-2, moves on to the regonal tourney in Connecticut.
