UM Women Win In OT, Men Lose At Texas Tech
The UMaine women's basketball team outlasted Bryant University and beat the Bulldogs in overtime 70-68. The Black Bears are now 2-1 in early season play.
UMaine Women 70 Bryant 68: At the Cross Center in Bangor, Blanca Millan had a big night, 26 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, three assists and three blocks.
There were eight lead changes and 11 ties in regulation, ending at 63-63.
The Bears never trailed in OT, outscoring Bryant 7-5.
Texas Tech 83 UMaine Men 44: In Lubbock, Texas, the Black Bears men's team got thumped 49-13 in the first half and could never get back in the game. While Texas Tech shot 51% from the floor, Maine shot just 24%.
Top scorers for the Bears, Andrew Fleming and Ilija Stojiljkovic with eight each.
The Black Bears are 0-2.
