A year ago the UMaine Black Bears won the CAA regular season title. Today, the 2014 pre-season coaches and SID poll picks picks the Bears to finish 7th. Welcome to the highly competitive Colonial Athletic Association.

At CAA media day in Baltimore, the early favorite for the fall is the UNH Wildcat team. The Cats received 15 first place votes. Villanova is picked #2 and Richmond #3.

Coach Jack Cosgrove's Black Bears finished 7-1 in the CAA (10-3 overall). The one conference loss was to UNH. In the second round of the NCAA playoffs Maine met the Wildcats again with UNH winning that game. Maine's only other loss was to Northwestern.

The Bears return 15 starters from last year. The season starts August 30th with an out-of-conference home game against Norfolk State.
