It’s time for you to help us decide again who should be the winner of this week’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have three great winter sport performers up for this week’s voting.

Bangor’s Damien Vance had a big week for the Rams as they picked up two valuable victories.  Vance scored nine points in the 11-point victory against the Gorham Rams last week and then poured in a game high 27 during the victory against Hampden Academy.  The win over Hampden snapped a 62-game home winning streak and helped Bangor’s chances of making it to the Class AA playoff field.

Hampden Academy senior Daija Misler broke her own UMaine facility record over the weekend at the PVC meet in Orono with a shot put throw of 41 feet and one inch.  The throw by Misler was almost nine full feet further than the next closest throw was the longest mark since a throw of 43 feet and 1.5 inches that was registered in 1983.  The mark was also good the 42nd best in the nation so far in the season.  Misler will be heading to Bucknell next year to continue her track career.

Orono’s Connor Robertson pushed the Red Riots to two victories over the last seven days.  Robertson had 18 points in a victory against Old Town, and then had 24 points in a 78-54 win over PCHS on Saturday.  Orono is now 11-3 on the year and in fourth place in the Class B standings.

The decision is up to you to choose who you think is the High School Athlete of the Week between these three great performers!
