Maine native Oliver Wahlstrom made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders last night, playing over 15 minutes in a 3-2 Isles win over the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.

Wahlstrom is the son of former UMaine Black Bears player Joakim Wahlstrom. He grew up in southern Maine and played for North Yarmouth Academy before going out of state to prep school.

Wahlstrom was the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.

After spending a year playing at Boston College, the 19-year-old Wahlstrom turned pro and played for the Isles AHL team.
