Camden Hills high school golfer Cole Anderson fired a 5-under par 66 at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club Tuesday to grab the lead at the 99th Maine Amateur Championship.

Anderson carded six birdies and just one bogey on the tough layout in central Maine. He finished in third place a year ago and also qualified and play in the U.S. Amateur Tournament in California. Anderson will be a senior in the fall.

Defending Maine Amateur champ Jack Wyman and former Bangor High School golfer Drew Powell fired 3-under par 68s.

Some golfers are still on the course at this hour.
