The Boston Red Sox got back-to-back home runs in the third inning from Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez and then a shaky bullpen did enough to secure a 4-3 win over the LA Angels Sunday afternoon.

The (74-63) Sox take the weekend series 2-1 and finish the west coast trip at 6-2.

With 25 games to play, the Sox are five games out of the wildcard playoff spot.

David Price came off the Injured List to start the game. He pitched two innings scoreless innings and threw 45 pitches and was done.

The Pawtucket September callups were next to pitch. Travis Lakins, Ryan Weber and Hector Velaquez. They combined to pitch the next five innings, giving up two runs.

Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman worked the 8th and 9th innings. Barnes gave up a solo home run, Workman shut down the Angels in the 9th and the Sox head home with the win.
