Boston Bruins rookie defenseman Charlie McAvoy scored 68 seconds into overtime to give the B's a 4-3 comeback win over the Carolina Panthers.

The victory comes just hours after the team found out star center Patrice Bergeron has a fractured foot and will be out for a while. The injury happened when he blocked a shot during the game in Toronto Saturday night. Bergeron will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Meanwhile, the added depth acquired at the trade deadline came into play big time last night. Rick Nash scored his first goal in a B's uniform and Tommy Wingels had a goal and an assist in his first game in a Bruins uniform.

Tuukka Rask made 29 saves in goal. Former UMaine goalie Scott Darling had 28 for Carolina.

The (28-15-8) Bruins stay one point behind second place Toronto in their Atlantic Division. The Bruins have five games in hand.

Next on the schedule for the B's - a matchup with the Pittsburgh Penquins Thursday night.
