Bruschi Tabbed As ‘Captain’ For AFC Title
Former New England Patriot Tedy Bruschi will serve as an honorary captain for the Patriots in the upcoming AFC Championship game on Sunday evening.
Bruschi, who played with the Pats from 1996 to 2008, won three titles with New England during his tenure. The former linebacker was enshrined in the Patriots’ Hall of Fame in 2013 and will serve as honorary captain for the ninth time. New England has not lost a game in any of the prior contests that featured Bruschi as an honorary captain.
The Pats will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers to try to reach the franchise’s ninth Super Bowl appearance. New England has won titles in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2014, with Bruschi serving in his role as honorary captain for the latter game with the team.
