Coffee News 2-0 In State Tourney [SCORES]

Don't look now but the Coffee News Bangor team hasn't given up a run yet at the American Legion State Tournament. Thursday's 2-0 win over Bessey Motors (Oxford Hills) keeps the Comrades in the winner's bracket with a 2-0 record.

RHP Gary Farnham pitched 8.1 innings of shutout ball, giving up just four hits and three walks. He struck out seven and left the game at the 120 pitch limit. Noah Missbrenner came on to get the final two outs, stranding runners at second and third.

After five innings of scoreless ball, a Tyler Parke double and one out later a Zach Cowperthwaite RBI double gave Bangor a 1-0 lead.

The Comrades added their second run in the 7th inning on an infield out by Farnham that scored Ben Crichton from third.

Colton Carson was the tough luck losing pitcher for Bessey Motors. He went all nine innings, scattering five hits and allowing those two runs.

Coffee News will next play a winner's bracket game Friday night at 7pm.

Pastime (Lewiston) 8   Brewer 1: The Falcons were eliminated from the state tourney after Thursday's loss to Pastime. Hunter Richardson pitched the first 8.1 to get the win for the Lewiston team. Alex Brooks pitched the first six innings for the Falcons, giving up three earned runs. Kobe Rogerson had two hits for Brewer.
