Last season the Husson University football team won their first ECFC championship and a spot in the NCAA tourney. This week it started over again as training camp opened Monday.Gabby Price's Eagles are coming off an historic season that saw them post a program best 8-2 record led by one of the top defenses in country. That defensive unit returns 7 of their top 10 players in tackles. This year they will work with a new defensive coordinator as Grant Caserta joins the program after spending last season as the linebackers coach at Maine Maritime Academy.

Several skill players return on the offensive side of the ball with quarterback Joe Seccareccia entering his senior season. The starting backfield led by John Smith also returns. As a true freshman Smith ruched for 1,408 yards and 13 touchdowns. He'll be joined by Hampden native Logan Steward who racked up over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Husson will open the season September 5th at home against Alfred State University.
