Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will have arthroscopic surgery this morning to take care of 'loose bodies' in his elbow. It appears he will be out of commission for four to six weeks.

'Loose bodies' is fragments of cartilage or bone that are loose in his elbow.

Eovaldi had the same surgery done last season in March when he was with the Tampa Bay Rays. He missed two months but because he was coming off 'Tommy John' surgery the Rays were careful in bringing him back.

The Sox acquired him at the trade deadline and signed him to a contract extension in the off season.
