The UMaine baseball team knows it will be in the six team America East Conference Tournament next week and now the team knows it will not be the #1 seed.

The Black Bears lost to Hartford 9-2 in game one of the regular season ending series today. The Hawks wrap up the top seed with the victory.

Hartford is now 15-7 AE (22-28 overall). Maine falls to 11-11 AE (17-31 overall).

The Bears could now finish anywhere from #2 to #6 for next week's tourney which will be held at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.

GAME 1: The Hawks jumped on UMaine state John Arel for four runs in the first inning and went on to get the 9-2 win. Arel gave up six runs in three innings of work.

TJ Ward lead the Hartford attack with three hits and four RBI.

The Black Bears managed just five hits and committed three errors.

GAME 2: Cody Laweryson and Connor Johnson combined to get a 3-1 win and earn a split of the doubleheader. The Black Bears runs came on a Jeremy Pena home run, a Danny Casals double and a balk.

NOTE: Maine begins the final day of the regular season in a three-way tie for 3rd place in America East with a 12-11 record. Stony Brook and UMass Lowell are also 12-11...The 6-team AE Tournament begins next Wednesday at Mahaney Diamon in Orono.
