The Orono and Ellsworth High School girls cross country teams claimed state championships while the Bangor boys and Orono boys had runner up finishes.

The title meets took place in Belfast early Saturday to try to beat the bad weather coming into the area.

For the Orono girls, it is the 5th Class C championship in last six years. The Red Riots placed three runners in the top seven - #3 Erin Gerbi, #4 Camille Kohtala, #7 Julia White.

In Class B girls, Ellsworth beat out Yarmouth by three points to claim a state title for the first time since 1978. Caitlin MacPherson finished #3 to lead the way.
