George Stevens Eagles vs. Houlton Shiretowners

The Houlton Shiretowners made short work of the three-time defending state champions Saturday night, outplaying the George Stevens Academy Eagles and claiming the regional championship.

Houlton held a double-digit lead most of the night -- leading by as many as 20 points -- and came away with a 54-34 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The Shiretowners led 25-15 at the half and built on that lead in the second half as the Eagles struggled to score.

Keegan Gentle led Houlton with 18 points. Nolan Porter had 14 points.

Isaac Wardwell had 14 points to lead the Eagles.

Houlton last won the regional title in 2014.

George Stevens finishes the season at 15-4.

Houlton will play south champion Winthrop in the Class C state title at 8:45 p.m. on Sat., March 2 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
