Eagles Will Play For NAC Championship
The Husson Eagles men's and women's basketball teams will play for North Atlantic Conference championships today after scoring semi-final wins on Saturday.
Husson Women 77 Northern Vermon-Lyndon 39: Coach Kissy Walker and her Eagles will try for a fourth straight NAC title after handling the Hornets Friday night at Newman Gymnasium.
Logan Huckins got her first career double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kenzie Worcester added 15 points, Emma Alley 12 and Megan Peach had eight points and 15 rebounds.
The 18-8 Eagles meet Maine Maritime Academy in the title game. The Mariners beat SUNY-Canton 55-43. Alayne Felix and Megan McLean scored 13 points.
Husson Men 85 SUNY-Canton 74: Coach Warren Caruson and his Eagles will meet Thomas College in the final after the Terriers knocked off top seed UMaine Farmington.
The Eagles had a 23 point lead over SUNY at halftime but the Kangaroos came roaring back with 51 second half points.
DJ Bussey led Husson with 26 points. Justin Martin added 20.
NOTE: Both NAC title games are at 2pm today. The women's game in Bangor and the men's game in Farmington. The two winners earn NCAA Division III bids.
