Boston Red Sox v Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim  John Lackey pitched good enough to win but the offense was held to just five hits in a 3-0 loss to the Angels in their series finale.Lackey went seven innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 9. Tow of his five hits were solo homers to Mike Trout and Hank Conger.

Sox batters struck out 10 times and were just 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position.

Before the game reliever Andrew Miller was put on the 15 day DL with a foot injury. He was flying back to Boston for more tests. Alfredo Aceves was called up to take his spot in the pen.

Despite the loss Boston still holds a 4 1/2 game lead in the AL East. Jon Lester takes the mound Monday against Felix Hernandez in the start of a 4-game series in Seattle.
