Mattanawcook Academy Coach Resigns, Players Suspended After Controversial Fouls
Mattanawcook Academy boys basketball coach Ryan Libby has resigned and two Lynx players have been suspended pending further investigation in the aftermath of Friday night's game vs Houlton.
Houlton won the game 84-41 played in Lincoln but there were several incidents of physical play during the game that turned the game into controversy.
Two intentional fouls were called against Lynx players and a flagrant foul was called by a game official. That flagrant foul results in a game ejection for that player.
M.A. athletic administrator Dean Libbey told Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket today that coach Ryan Libby has resigned "stating he (Libby) wants to take full responsibility for the incidents."
JV coach PJ Stanley will coach the varsity team for the remainder of the season. The Lynx have a record of 1-13.
Two players have been suspended pending further investigation.
NOTE: You can hear M.A. athletic administrator Dean Libbey comment on the incident and the punitive measures taken on 'The Drive' Show at 4pm today on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
