Maine And UNH Split Thursday Night Border Battle
The UMaine women won at the Cross Insurance Center 67-50. The Black Bears were up by 3 at halftime and then outscored the Wildcats 27-17 in the 3rd quarter.
Maine's Maddy McVicar had 17 points, 15 of them after the half, and made 3 three pointers. Maeve Carroll had her 2nd straight double-double (and 3rd of her career) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Anne Simon had 13 points and 6 assists with 4 rebounds.
Maine is now 6-11 overall, 2-1 in America East. Their next game is Saturday at 5pm at the Cross Center against Albany (6-9, 2-0 AE)

New Hampshire won the men's game 57-51 in Durham, NH.
Josh Hopkins had 16 points and Chris Lester added 14 and turned a turnover into a layup with 1:36 to play to give the Wildcats a 55-48 lead with 1:36 to play. The Black Bears got it down to 50-48 with 3:29 to play but Nick Guadarrama answered with a 3-pointer. A miss and a turnover stalled the rally.
Andrew Fleming had 14 points for the Black Bears. Sergio El Darwich added 11 points.
Maine is now 4-12 overall, and 0-2 in America East. The Bears stay on the road for their next game when they play at Albany Saturday at 3pm in New York. The Great Danes are 8-8 overall, and 1-0 in conference.
