The battle of the unbeaten lived up to its billing Friday night at Alumni Field. Both
MCI and Orono entered the game with 6-0 records and the two offenses combined for touchdowns on 6-of-7 first half possessions.

The defenses kicked in for the second half.

The Huskies added to a three point halftime lead seconds into the third quarter on a 55 yard TD run from quarterback, Josh Buker, giving MCI a 10 point cushion. That's where the score remained until late in the fourth quarter, when Jackson Coutts connected with Matt Fowler for a 98-yard passing touchdown to cut the deficit to 28-25.

MCI added a late score to put the game to rest and pick up their seventh win of the season, 35-25, over the Red Riots.

MCI's offensive output was led by Josh Buker, who ran for 134 yards and added a passing touchdown, while Eli Bussell totaled 157 yards on 16 carries.

Coutts finished the game 17-of-23 passing with three total touchdowns, while Fowler added 89 rushing yards to go with his long reception.

The Red Riots fall to 6-1 in Class D, while the Huskies stay unbeaten at 7-0. The win was the 100th of MCI coach, Tom Bertrand's, career.
