While the March sun melts away the snow on baseball and softball fields across Maine, high school teams all over the state got to work in gymnasiums on Monday afternoon.

The Maine Principals' Association (MPA) allows an early week of conditioning for pitchers and catchers in an attempt to cut down on arm injuries.

Teams are allowed to work with players on stretching, strengthening, cardio and recovery. The week is not intended to be an additional week of preseason practice.

Team tryouts for all high school spring sports begin next Monday.

At Red Barry Gym, the Bangor Rams went through conditioning with coach Dave Morris. The Rams are the five-time Class A state champions. The quest for #6 begins April 17th vs Lewiston.
