The 47th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race starts Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. with hundreds of paddlers getting ready to race the 16 1/2 mile course with lots of flat water and some white water challenges as well.

Through the first 46 years of the event the numbers are staggering...17,987 canoes and kayaks have entered with 32,453 participants.

Trevor MacLean from Nova Scotia has won the last four races. The all-time leader in wins is New Brunswick paddler Robert Lang with 12 wins.

In reality, there are 24 winners each year. 24 different classes paddlers can enter, based on size of boat and experience of paddler.
