And the winner of the New England Patriots kicker tryout is...Mike Nugent. The Pats have chosen the 14-year veteran to replace the injured Stephen Gostkowski.

That's what ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting after five kickers were brought for a tryout yesterday in Foxboro.

Nugent kicked for Ohio State in college, was drafted by the New York Jets. He has since kicked for the Bucs, Cardinals, Cowboys, Bears, Raiders and spent the most time with Cincinnati (7 years).

Nugent has made 253 field goals in his career, on target 81% of the time.

NOTES: Schefter is also reporting that the Patriots have signed kicker Younghoo Koe, a former Chargers kicker, to the practice squad...The Patriots play the Washington Redskins Sunday afternoon. Live coverage of Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket begins with pregame coverage at 10am.
