For a couple of former UMaine Black Bears their time in the unemployment line was a short one after they were signed to practice squad deals on Sunday.Following cuts to get down to the 53-man limit teams must wait 24 hours before they can sign players to the practice squad. That was the case for tight end Justin Perillo who re-signed with the Green Bay Packers and Kendall James who got a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Perillo spent last season on the Packers practice squad and was slowed this preseason after suffering a concussion during the first preseason game against the Patriots.

James spent his first preseason with the Browns and was tied for 5th on the team with 9 tackles.

Players on the practice squad work out with the team and can be signed to the active roster if needed to suit up for game because of injuries or other roster moves.
