All over the state of Maine today high school student-athletes begin their quest for a state championship. The two-week MPA mandated 'hands off' period is over. Let the fall sports season begin.

Football, soccer, field hockey, cross country, volleyball, golf and cheering can start practices today and most will.

Changes for the new fall season include a new Class E for startup football programs. Several team will move up or down a class depending on enrollment.

Another MPA change allows schools to combine in forming teams and use a percentage of enrollment vs player to dictate what class a teams plays in.

Volleyball has added a Class C to go along with Classes A and B.

And as always, new coaches enter the head coaching ranks.

NOTE: Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and 929theticket.com will have a full schedule of live coverage of the upcoming season. The first broadcast is Friday, September 2nd.
