The Boston Red Sox drop another game behind the first place Yankees after losing to them 4-1 Friday night. The Sox deficit is now 8.5 games in back of New York.

Chris Sale took the loss and he is now 1-7, tied for the most losses in MLB.

He struck out 10 over six innings but gave up four runs. DJ LeMahieu hurt Sale the most with a home run and a RBI double.

Meanwhile, Yankee starter JA Happ and three relievers held the Red Sox to just five hits.

One was a Rafael Devers home run that gave the Sox a brief 1-0 lead.
