Maybe this will be the low water mark for the Boston Red Sox. An 8-0 beatdown by the New York Yankees Tuesday night dropping the Sox to 6-12.

Lefty James Paxton completely shut down the Sox offense, striking out 12 in eight inning. He allowed just two hits and one walk.

Chris Sale had more velocity for the Sox but no better results. He lasted five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits and one walk. Sale did strike out six.

Erasmo Ramirez, just up from Pawtucket, added gasoline to the fire, giving up a three run homer and a total of four runs in three innings.

Game two of the series tonight at Yankee Stadium with Nathan Eovaldi facing J. Happ. Live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket starts at 5:30pm.
