When the Portland Sea Dogs open their Eastern League Double-A season Thursday in Binghamton, New York, one of the players in the other dugout will be none other than Tim Tebow.

Yes, that Tim Tebow.

Heisman Trophy winner. Two-time college football national champion. Former NFL quarterback. ESPN analyst.

And now, a 30-year-old guy trying to work his way up the baseball ladder.

Tebow played 126 games in Class A ball in the New York Mets system and now the Mets are sending him to the Class AA Binghamton Rumble Ponies to start the season.

The Sea Dogs, the Double-A team of the Red Sox play four games vs Tebow and company Thursday through Sunday.

And, the Rumble Ponies come to Hadlock Field in Portland next Friday through Sunday for the opening series at home.

NOTE: The Red Sox are sending several top prospects to Portland to start the season. #1 prospect Michael Chavis (3B) will be at Hadlock along with #9 prospect RHP Mike Shawaryn, #11 prospect 1B Josh Ockimey and #16 RHP Travis Lakins. The #1 pick from 2013, LHP Trey Ball will also by with the Sea Dogs.
