On a day when the Red Sox and Yankees play their last non-countable spring training game against each other, news comes from the Yanks that their ace, Luis Severino, won't pitch until sometime in May at the earliest.

Severino has rotator cuff inflammation and is in a two-week shutdown period.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman told reporters in Florida today that he doesn't expect their ace to pitch in the big leagues until sometime in May. He just signed a 4-year, $40M extension earlier in the spring.

Severino won 19 games with a 3.39 ERA last year.

Another Yankee starter, CC Sabathia, is also out of the rotation. Cashman expects him to pitch sometime in April.
