UMaine's big win over New Hampshire on opening night has jumped the Black Bears into 22nd place in the national poll. Meanwhile, senior linebacker Sterling Sheffield has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Maine dominated UNH 35-7 last Thursday night and pollsters took notice. While the Black Bears went from unranked to #22 in the STATS/FCS Poll, the Wildcats dropped from #7 down to #20.

Sheffield was a major factor on defense with two tackles for losses, two sacks and one pass breakup. UNH had just 108 total yards of offense and a -15 trying to run the ball.

UMaine travels to FBS Western Kentucky for a game Saturday night.
