Chalk up another win on the gridiron for UMaine senior linebacker Sterling Sheffield. At the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Game at the Rose Bowl over the weekend, Sheffield played for the American team that beat the National team 10-7.

It's the first time in the eight years of the event that the American team has won the game. Former Colts coach Chuck Pagano was the head coach.

Sheffield had three tackles and a forced fumble in the game.

Perhaps more than the game itself, Sheffield and all the players hope they turned some heads in front of NFL scouts and coaches. Players spent all week working with pro coaches.

The NFL Draft is April 25th and last year former UMaine lineman Jamil Demby got noticed and was drafted by the LA Rams. He spent much of the NFL season on the Detroit Lions practice squad.

Sheffield was a big part of the Black Bears defense that earned its way to the semi-final round of the FCS playoffs.
