Former big leaguer Matt Stairs will be in Bangor Sunday afternoon for a book signing event featuring the new biography 'A Boy Named Matt' written by author Carlena Munn.

Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket and Dysarts Restaurant and Flat Bed Pub on Broadway in Bangor will host Stairs from noon to 2pm on Sunday afternoon.Books will be available for purchase during the event and Stairs will be signing the books.

Stairs is no stranger to the Bangor area, having lived in the Queen City and coached high school hockey at Bangor HS and at John Bapst HS.

Stairs and his family returned to his native New Brunswick two years ago. He remains active in the community and in fact, proceeds from books sales to helping youth baseball in the Fredericton area.

Author Munn chronicles Stairs' rise from an outstanding baseball and hockey player in his youth to his 19-year career as a major league player. He won a World Series title with the Phillies in 2008 and Stairs remains the all-time MLB leader in pinch-hit home runs with 23.

He currently is an analyst for Comcast Philadelphia TV broadcasts of Phillies games.

NOTE:  Matt will be at Dysart's Broadway Restaurant and Flat Bed Pub this Sunday, November 16th from noon to 2pm. Dysart's is located at 1110 Broadway in Bangor, at the corner of Broadway and Griffin Road.
