With the tensions still rising between the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles over the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk about baseball’s ‘unwritten rules’.

The Morning Pitch received some clarification on what exactly are the rules of baseball that are policed by the players and when is the situation right to warrant retribution.  Nick Derba, the interim head coach of the UMaine Baseball, used his pro experience as a catcher in the St Louis Cardinals organization to let us know the intent of Chris Sale’s pitch on Tuesday night, and whether or not the end of this feud is in sight.

Derba also ruled on a few other rules that have been violated over the years in the pro and was asked whether or not it would be worthy enough for retaliation.  He played six seasons in the minor leagues with St. Louis and part of three years in Triple A with Memphis.

The UMaine baseball team takes on Colby College tonight at Mahaney Diamond and then will host UMBC in America East conference play.
