UMBC Sweeps Black Bears In AE Play
The Retrievers from UMBC beat the UMaine women's down in Baltimore while the UMBC men were beating the Black Bear men at Cross Center in Bangor.
Baltimore, MD: UMBC beat Maine 66-62 after a late comeback by the Bears came up a little bit short.
The late game three-point shot by Maine's Julie Brosseau was waved off after the ball hit the rim, bounced up a hit the shot clock above the rim before going through the basket.
Taylor McCarley had 21 to lead the Retrievers.
Maine was led by Laia Sole with 15 points.
The Black Bears continue to struggle on the road, just 1-5 in the NAC and 2-11 overall.
UMaine now 5-5 NAC and 12-13 overall.
UMBC is 6-4 and 11-12.
Bangor, ME: The UMaine men's team fell for the 15th time in the last 16 games, an 83-71 loss to UMBC at the Cross Center.
Wes Myers had 33 points for the Black Bears but only five other players scored a point.
UMBC was led by Will Darley with 31.
The Black Bears drop to 1-9 AE and 5-20 overall.
UMBC is 7-3 and 16-7.
