The University of Vermont men’s basketball team saw their season end last night at the hands of the Purdue Boilermakers as the Catamounts fell in the First Round match-up by a score of 80-70.

Vermont led for much of the first half, but a late surge by the Purdue side gave the Boilermakers the one-point advantage after the first 20 minutes of game action.  Purdue would outscore the Cats in the second half 43-34 to seal the win by 10 points when all was said and done.

The Catamount finish up the season with a 29-6 record and pick up their first loss since December when they lost to Butler.  They were led by freshman Anthony Lamb who had 20 points and nine rebounds.  Trae Bell Haynes also chipped in with 15 points and seven boards.

Purdue was led by Vince Edwards who had a game high 21 points, while center Caleb Swanigan had a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.  Swanigan also had three blocks in the contest.  The Boilermakers will play again on Saturday as they face Iowa State who bested Nevada on Thursday night.
