Winless Last Year, 3 North Region Teams Get Wins
Football fans at Nokomis HS, Washington Academy and Waterville HS have reason to celebrate. After going through a winless season a year ago, those three schools picked up week one wins this year.
Washington Academy 32 Orono 0: The Raiders of WA scored a shutout victory over Orono Friday night after going 0-9 last season and just three wins over the last three seasons. WA host Traip in week two.
Nokomis 34 Hampden 8: The Warriors scored a week one win over Hampden. Nokomis had gone 0-8 last season and 0-8 in 2015, both in Class B. The Warriors compete in Class C now. Nokomis is at MCI in week two.
Waterville 21 Mt. Blue 7: The Class C Purple Panthers knocked off Class B Mt. Blue after going 0-8 last season. Waterville plays at Medomak Valley in week two.
