The Winslow Black Raiders pulled out to an early lead and knocked off the No. 3 seed MDI Trojans in Class B girls quarterfinal action at the Cross Insurance Center Friday night.

When the buzzer sounded, No. 6 Winslow (14-5) came away with a convincing 55-34 win over the Trojans, who ended their season at 14-5.

The Black Raiders used a combination of crisp passing and tenacious defense to upset MDI, pulling out to a 35-12 lead at the half and 53-23 lead after three quarters.

It was a balanced scoring attack from Winslow, led by senior Haley Ward with 13 points. Maeghan Bernard added 9 points. Broghan Gagnon had 8 points, Weslee Littlefield had 7 points and Paige Trask had 6 points.

MDI was led by junior Maddy Candage with 9 points.

Winslow will meet the winner of John Bapst and Waterville.
