Archer, Smith, Farnham Earn Top Legion Awards
Hampden's Brandon Smith, Bangor's Carl Farnham and Motor City's Cam Archer are the Zone 1 American Legion baseball major award winners.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Brandon Smith (RH Foster Hampden) The Riverdogs outfielder batted .439 with 13 doubles and had 22 RBI. Smith also went 2-2 with a 3.75 ERA as a pitcher.
PITCHER OF THE YEAR: Gary Farnham (Coffee New Comrades) The Bangor righthander went 4-0 this summer with 30 strikeouts in 28 innings.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Cam Archer (Quirk Motor City) The first year coach led Motor City to and third place finish in the zone and a trip to the upcoming state tournament.

NOTE: The eight team, double elimination Maine State American Legion Tournament begins Saturday at the Winkin Complex at Husson University. Motor City plays in the 10am game. Hampden plays the 1pm game. Bangor plays the 7pm game.
