The Bangor Rams scored two unearned runs in the first inning and then made those runs hold up to collect a 2-0 Class A North quarterfinal win over the Hampden Broncos.

The first three batters for the Rams reached base on Bronco errors, two of them scored.

Then the game turned into a pitcher's duel.

Bangor senior Peter Kemble scattered five Hampden hits over seven innings. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Meanwhile, Bronco senior Alex McKenney allowed the Rams just two hits. He struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.

The game took one hour and 13 minutes.

Hampden's season ends with an 11-6 record.

Bangor(13-4) travels to play #1 Oxford Hills Saturday in the semi-final round.
