Bangor, Hampden To Winner’s Bracket [SCORES]

Day one of the American Legion Zone 1 Tournament saw Bangor, Hampden and Skowhegan come up winners in the first round.

Hampden(RH Foster Riverdogs) scored a 9-1 win over the Brewer Falcons. Nick Guerrette went the distance on the hill for Hampden. He gave up one run, seven hits, eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter. Casey Sudbeck had three hits and three RBI.

The second game was the completion of the suspended game from Friday night. The #4 Skowhegan team eliminated #5 Post 51 in the play-in game 2-1.

That meant Skowhegan advanced to face top seed Bangor(Coffee News Comrades) and Bangor scored a 9-4 win in the Friday nightcap. Ethan Stoddard led the Comrades with three hits and two RBI. Jesse Colford got the complete game win, giving up 15 hits but also striking out 11 and did not walk a batter.
