Bears Earn STATS/FCS Nat’l Team of the Week

Fresh off their Saturday night win over FBS Western Kentucky, the UMaine Black Bears have been named the STATS/FCS National Team of the Week.

And why not.

It's not just the comeback from being down 21-0 on the road to score the 31-28 win.

How about this - there were 29 games played Saturday between FBS and FCS teams. The FBS won 28 of the 29, beating the FCS by an average of 39 points. Maine was the one FCS win.

Now the question is how high will the Black Bears be ranked in the national poll this week?

They were #22 after the UNH win and four teams ahead of them the poll lost games.

The weekly STATS/FCS poll will be released Monday afternoon.
