Bears Get Weekend Sweep

Make it a weekend sweep for the UMaine hockey team on opening weekend. The Black Bears scored a 4-1 win over St.Lawrence, getting goals from four different players.

Freshman Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup scored his first collegiate goal just 30-seconds into the game.

Patrick Shea and Rob Michel added second period goals. Tim Doherty scored the final Maine goal in the third period.

Goalie Jeremy Swayman stopped 23 shots to pick up his second win.

The Black Bears will take on defending national champ Minnesota-Duluth next weekend in Minneosta.
