The UMaine softball team lost its opening round game at the America East Conference Tournament, 3-1 to the Binghamton Bearcats. That means Maine will have to play again today and will have to win to stay in the tourney.

The Bearcats scored a run in the 1st, 4th and 6th innings to take a 3-0 lead.

The Black Bears got one run back on an Alyssa Derrick home run but that was it for Maine offense.

Both Annie Kennedy and Kyleigh O'Donnell pitched for the Bears.

Maine (20-25) awaits either Stony Brook for UMBC in the loser's bracket game at 4pm.
