Bessey Knocks Out Bangor [SCORES]

The Bangor Coffee News Comrades attempt to win back-to-back American Legion State Championships came to a screeching halt Wednesday afternoon. A 1-0 heartbreak loss to Bessey Motors from South Paris in the championship round.

The win sent Bessey Motor to the title game vs Coastal Landscape of Portland.

The loss ended Bangor's summer season at 22-2.

The game began with two ejections - Bessey pitcher Colton Carson and his coach Shane Slicer after one pitch was thrown. A dispute on pitch count in Carson's first tourney game left him ineligible to pitch but the team believed that pitch count was incorrect. Legion officials rule the official scorer pitch count stands and Carson was removed from the game. He had to sit out the title game vs Coastal, as did Slicer.

As for the game, both teams had chances to score but the only run of the game came in the 8th inning. Emery Chickering scored from third base on a play that included an infield out, a throw to second base and then a throw home that was too late.

After Carson left the game, Troy Johnson and Ashton Kennison combined to hold Bangor to two hits.
