The UMaine Black Bears are NCAA bound for a second straight year. The Bears handled Hartford 68-48 at the Cross Center in Bangor Friday evening to win the America East Conference championship.

A crowd of 3,234 watched the Maine victory.

Senior Parise Rossignol helped the Black Bears get off to a quick 10-0 start by hitting two three pointers. The former Van Buren Crusader scored 15 points in the title game.

The Hawks would close the gap but would never take the lead.

Maine led 10 after the first quarter, by 6 at the half and then by 13 after three quarters.

Blanca Millan led the Bears in scoring with 19 but the balance was key to victory. Tanesha Sutton added 12, Fanny Wadling had 10 point and 11 rebounds. Dor Saar added 9 points and 7 assists.

Maine will takes its 25-7 record to the NCAAs. The selection show is Monday night and ESPN's bracketologist Charlie Creme has the Bears as a #14 seed, maybe #13 and perhaps heading to play Syracuse.
