For just the second time in school history, the Bowdoin College women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Division III final four.

The (28-2) Polar Bears beat Scranton University and Tufts over the weekend to earn the trip to Minnesota and next weekend's championship event.

Bowdoin will meet (31-0) Wartburg College from Iowa in the national semi-final Friday night at 8:30pm.

Another NESCAC team, (31-0) Amherst meets (30-1) Thomas More College from Kentucky in the other semi-final Friday night.

Former Maine high school players on the Bowdoin squad include Cordelia Stewart (Bangor), Hannah Graham (Presque Isle), Maddie Hasson (South Portland), Moira Train (Greely) and Lydia Caputi (Brunswick, Tabor Academy).

Polar Bears head coach Adrienne Shibles played her high school ball at Mt. View HS and assistant coach Megan Phelps played at MDI High School.
