Cape Elizabeth Capers catcher Brendan Tinsman has won the Dr. John W. Winkin "Mr. Baseball" Award, which is given annually to the state's top senior baseball player.

Tinsman was named the recipient of the award during a ceremony held between the Class C/D and Class A/B all-star games at Colby College in Waterville on Thursday.

He was named the 2018 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year and Western Maine Conference co-player of the year.

Tinsman, a four-year starter at Cape Elizabeth, led the Capers to a 12-6 record and a trip to the regional semifinals in 2018.

Other players who were nominated for "Mr. Baseball" include pitcher/first baseman Grant Hartley of Edward Little, catcher Cameron King of Portland, pitcher/shortstop Cam Cousins of Wells, outfielder Shane MacNeill of Traip Academy, pitcher Jacob Bickford of Dexter, pitcher/shortstop Dean Grass of Bangor Christian, pitcher/shortstop Pedro Matos of MCI and pitcher/catcher Evan Bess of Bridgeway.
