Former Orono High School standout Jackson Coutts has been named the starting first baseman of the North Division Team in Sunday's New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All Star Game.

The NECBL is a wooden bat, summer league for college players.

Coming off an outstanding freshman season at the University of Rhode Island, Coutts is the second leading hitter in the NECBL. He is hitting .388 for the North Adams Steeplecats, with three home runs and 26 RBI.

On defense, Coutts has handled 133 chances without an error.

His Steeplecats team is currently 14-22 (6th place, North Division).

The NECBL All Star Game is Sunday at McKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

NOTE: The Sanford Mainers have seven players on the North Division team. Coach Chris Morris has his Mainers in 2nd place with a record of 20-14.
