The UMaine women's basketball team had a three-point shot that fell short and in the end came up short, 66-63, to the nationally ranked Duke Blue Devils Thursday night at the Cross Center in Bangor.

Over 2,800 watched as the Bears almost pulled it off against former UMaine coach Joanne P. McCallie.

Duke raced out to a 10 point lead after one quarter.

Maine came back on the Blue Devils in the second quarter to make it 27-22 Duke at the half.

Then in the second half, with about three left minutes and down by 11, the Black Bears tried one more comeback but
a Dor Saar jumper at the end would not go down.

Blanca Millan led (2-1) Maine with 25 points. Tanesha Sutton added 14.

Haley Gorecki had 21 for (1-1) Duke.
