A Saturday of struggles for the Husson University and UMaine baseball teams. Both squads dropping important conference games.

The Eagles lost twice in NAC play to Lyndon State College 3-0 and 8-1. With four conference left, Husson may need to win all of them just to get into the tourney at (8-12 NAC, 13-21 overall).

GAME 1  Another tough luck loss for Husson pitcher Jesse Colford as the Hornets scored three times in the top of the 7th inning to win. Colford is 0-6 on the spring with an ERA of 2.95. The Eagles managed just three hits.

GAME 2  While Husson had just four hits in this 8-1 loss, LSC scored runs in four of seven innings, pounding out 13 hits.

The two teams play another conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

In America East play, the Black Bears struggled at UMaryland Baltimore County, losing both ends of a doubleheader 9-4 and 7-4.

GAME 1  The Retrievers scored seven times in the 3rd inning to put distance between themselves and the Bears. The big hit was a grand slam by Collin Stack. UMaine collected just four hits.

GAME 2  UMBC won the second game 7-4. Again, it was a big 3rd inning, scoring five times.

Th Black Bears fall to 6-8 NAC, 11-27 overall. UMBC is 8-6, 16-20.

The two teams play a single game in Baltimore Sunday.
